Trojan L-16P---- 6Volt 390 Amp Hour @ 20 Hour Rate. Perfect for first time solar and/or wind energy projects.
12 volt systems - Light use or weekend only use. 24 volt systems - Moderate use or part time homes. 36-48 volt - Daily use or full time home.
120 volt DC systems is the best system. Only thing is you will either have to build your own inverter, or have a 120 volt DC to AC inverter custom made.
You can sometimes find these higher voltage inverters from "Lorain". They are very large and heavy with old school tech. inside, but they still do the job.....And pure sine wave too.
48 volt bank of Trojan L-16G --- 6 volts each 370 Amp Hour @ 20 Hour Rate. (Main bank: Day use only)
Below: Surrette 58 volt bank 2 volts each 1,300 Amp Hour @ 20 Hour Rate 200 pounds each. (20''x 9" x 7") White poly-boxes inside green epoxy metal cases with handles.
Found at local scrap yard on three pallets completely drained. Took almost a year to bring these back to 90% capacity using a simple desulfator circuit and daily charging/discharging. No acid was added to these cells, just water.
They now work almost like new @ 95% capacity. 2.17 Float - 17.50 amp short circuit.
(Backup bank: Night use and/or cloudy no wind days) (58-60 volts variable)
Below: C&D Battery Division 14 volt bank 2 volts each 2,800 Amp Hour 20 hour rate. 400 pounds each. 20" x 9" x 14"
Found at an old abandoned property completely dry and sulfated sitting for at least 15 years in the dry Arizona weather. Manufacture date is 1978 stamped on lead posts!
They must have only been used for a short time and then left to die.....What a shame!!!!!
All the sulfuric acid was at the bottom of these cells and all we had to do is fill these monsters with water. No acid was added.
It only took a few months and these were up to 80% capacity using a desulfator. We expect them to be close to full capacity like the Surrette's.
2.17 volt float - 17.50 amp short circuit.
(Lorain 48-120 volt DC-AC inverter seen in upper left corner) Also a scrap yard find/DIY fixer upper.
Where we found the C&D batteries. Was either a 12 volt 3 string bank, or 36 volt bank. Four batteries had cracks in the cases and could not be saved.
Sulfated and deteriorating Battery Positive plates. (Brown Color) (Trojan L-16)
